This post is about my own experiences and thoughts about eTMS treatment. It should not be used as medical advice or be considered an authoritative source for medical information. If you think TMS/rTMS/eTMS could help you, check with a medical professional for the latest information and steps to get help. If you are a Veteran, First Responder, or Law Enforcement officer struggling with substance abuse, mental illness, sleep disorder, traumatic brain injury, sexual trauma, PTSD, concussions, or other brain trauma, contact eTMS Ohio for treatment options.

After coming back from the long weekend (Yesterday was Juneteenth in the United States) I went in for my 6th treatment. The eTMS process itself was what’s become pretty standard now: 14 minutes, 40 seconds of 5-second magnetic pulses with 20-second intervals between them.

Scales Improvement

What was different this time, though, was that Ron gave me my second set of scales (see my Day 1 post for more details). These are given after every 5th treatment. The differences between day 1 and day 6 was surprising!

The PACS score that indicates alcoholism went up a couple points, but stayed low. It only changed because my sister-in-law sent me a really cool beer mug (and some candied bacon), and I really wanted to have a beer to try it out.

Cheers!

The other scores showed a drastic improvement. Keep in mind, the surveys are for two weeks, so this was bringing together a week without treatment and a week with treatment.

  • The ISI score which measures insomnia went from 15 (Clinical insomnia (moderate severity)) to 2 (No clinically significant insomnia)
  • The BDI-2 score which Measures depression went from 27 (Moderate depression) to 4 (Minimal depression)
  • The PHQ-9 score which Also measures depression went from 14 (Moderate Depression) to 8 (Mild Depression)
  • The GAD-7 score which Measures Anxiety went from 14 (Moderate Anxiety) to 6 (Mild anxiety)

So, yeah, things are looking up!

Sleep is Interesting

My sleep journey has been interesting. Last night, my sleep wasn’t so great.

Compare my previous scores here

Based on what my beloved spouse has told me, I think the quality of sleep when I get to sleep is better, but getting to sleep is still challenging. It could be a lot of things: sleep hygiene, new locations, etc. But it could also be needing to give this thing some more time. So, I’ll keep working on what I’m doing to get to sleep and give this treatment some more time to keep doing its magic.

Come back tomorrow for more of my journey!
